I should have known a that the person we had arranged to complete the hardwood flooring installation job had forgotten to order the correct wood for our project. I had called the day prior to wood delivery and he was unsure that he was to have wood delivered. But, the wood for our project was delivered, just 1 day late. We had requested "Select" oak hardwood grade and did not realize until the second day of the project that we did not receive that wood grade. Our estimate was quoted for "Select" Grade. When my husband asked of the wood color variations, the person we had dealt with replied, "Wood is wood, it comes from trees." We then checked the wood delivery receipt which indicated we received "Common" grade. The person we had been dealing with was not honest with us and communicate this fact. The last day of the project I asked about this and his reply was that he could not get "Select" so he ordered "Common". We paid for "Select" Grade and we were not offered a discount or to reschedule until the wood we wanted was available. I replied that Common is less expensive, his reply "Oh yes, maybe $.50." This is not true, I called the wood supplier who quoted Select grade at $3.64 and Common at $2.09. The person we dealt with agreed to discount, "If I needed to," of $.50 per square foot. We have "Select" Grade wood in other parts of our home and it does not compare with the new floor, the "Common" grade has more color variations and knots in the wood. We are disappointed in the lack of honesty and integrity.

The floors look great, they were in bad shape and they really brought them back to life, for the most part. Crew was polite and showed up on time. The attention to detail was poor, as was communication, Here's why: No masking tape used, so finish got on my 1930's wood trim that is irreplaceable. We're talking streaks up to 3-4" high. The trim now has to be re-finished. Finish was also spilled on my stairs. Filler was used before consulting me on what should be done with damaged planks (damage found after sanding), and was applied partially applied.Literally the same plank had filler in one section but not the other. Several visible particulates in final finish, which could be seen from several feet away. No warning given regarding the overpowering odor that would accompany this process. I contacted the company after they completed the work and some of these items were addressed, but not all. Later on, I even found a small part of the floor where no finish was even applied! Communicating with David from Woodfloor masters also could have been better. He said he would come take a look at these issues himself after I emailed him pictures, but he didn't show up. The same crew who did the work showed up. Most of these issues could have been easily avoided with some attention to detail, and this would have been a 5 star review. The floors do look really good, but the trim damage, not keeping their word, and sloppy fill work really pull the rating down. I don't feel the overall service provided was worth the 5$ a SQFT they charged. If you use these guys, you had better watch them to make sure they don't screw your floor up.

I had the best experience I can imagine with David, Sean, and Dave. They installed and finished new oak flooring in my house in Vancouver. The job went incredibly smoothly, the crew was professional and skilled, and the finished product was spectacular and, honestly, flawless. From start to finish this took a week.
