My mom and I got a recommendation from a local to eat here while traveling through town. The decor is old-time and quaint, that didn't bother us, we were expecting home-cooked goodness. We've never been so disappointed. We weren't greeted when we walked in and after a bit, we sat down. The server came over pretty quickly with menus and got us coffee and water. The coffee was bitter, grainy and so bad we couldn't drink it. We ordered their homemade chow mein and a 1/4 chicken special with a side of mashed and green beans. The "salad" was chopped lettuce in a small bowl with huge dollops of blue cheese. The server was at the salad bar to dish these up ... a tomato or just a little carrot would have made that much more appetizing. The lettuce had brown bits in it and was swimming in dressing. So, not great, but edible. The chow mein was so gelatinous and goopy - way too much cornstarch - and the "meat" in it was hard and tough. My mom couldn't eat it. She picked at the rice and chow mein noodles. The 1/4 chicken was so greasy, the grease ran into the green beans on the plate. I ate the chicken, the meat itself was good. The green beans were not edible, they had a weird flavor that tasted a bit rotten. I put my faith in the mashed potatoes, a person can't do much to mashed right? Think again. These tasted like boxed dried mashed and the gravy on top was like a solid mass, so jelly-like and thick it didn't run down the pile. It was awful and after two bites, I gave up. We were actually laughing a bit at just how bad it all was when the young server brought a fresh pot of coffee - hope springs eternal I guess - and asked us how things were. We told her it wasn't good, that the beans and potatoes were inedible and that we hadn't eaten more than 1/2 the food. She didn't react, just said "oh" and walked away. The coffee? Slightly less bitter, still grainy and bad. The bill came, no deductions, no apologies. We guess that the server was maybe a teen around 15/16 and just didn't know how to handle the situation, so we still tipped her, but vowed to give a review later to warn others to think twice about this place. We know, as former restaurant owners ourselves, that you can have bad days, but this was not a good experience.

What ever you do....dont order the ribeye !!!! Even at medium rare it was so tuff and hard you need a glass of water to get the first few bites down. Wasted $19 bucks. Waitress was one of few words and didnt speak much . Definite no on a return visit Embarrassed to even photo the food. Suggestions- Cheerful waitress Dont serve a steak that is not cooked properly Couldnt find a good thing to at least up it to a 2 star

Was just passing thru the state and this place happened to be close to the hotel I was staying in. Got there late and the waitress was kind enough to throw together a meal for me. Pretty nice place. Would definitely go again if I were ever in the area

Its 90' and you have been driving all day. You pushed yo to a 11 hr day and have your hotel hooked. What yo do?? We pulled into Stubby, walked completely around the building before we entered the bar, passing up the resturant. Large frosted mugs of beer appeared. Very nice. I'll have another after an appropriate time. EPW! Another frosted mug. Then some cheese curds with jalapeños. Finally walleye grilled. Comes with a full salad bar. Ok folks, quit drooling and stop here
