Nice beach with plenty of parking. The best feature is the LL BEAN BEACH BOX. Inside this large walk in storage shed is all one would need at the beach: Umbrella, chair, beach toys-all free to borrow. Large beach with plenty of room for the family.

This was a beautiful park. Ample parking, clean restrooms and gorgeous view!! Such a beautiful sight to see, there is an island off of the coast and being able to see the trees on it made for such a beautiful picture. Plenty of coast to walk along. We went all the way to the larger rocks to the right on the beach and climbed up them, if you are able to do so please do it. You will not regret the power of the wind in your face and the stunning views from up there. It can be very slippery in some places so please use your best judgment! Recommend to anyone in the area looking for a place to picnic, walk or just meditate in the ocean air for awhile.

What a lovely beach! Nice and secluded with lots of space to spread out. The sand is very soft with lots of smooth pebbles and rocks. Water was very full of seaweed and tiny pieces of natural debris so we didn’t get in the water, but still had a really great time! It was awesome to walk up the beach to a rock outcrop and see the seaweed flowing in the water, as well as a hill of beautiful wild flowers. There’s lots of private nooks that have a picnic table and a charcoal grill. They have showers, bathrooms, sinks, a snack bar and info on the beach. The view is phenomenal with the little islands and the shore wrapping around to create the crescent shaped beach. A great place for families and there’s tons of parking. The park passes are per person, $6 for Maine residents and $8 for non. We had a great time. With love from PA!

The park's signature feature and namesake is a mile-long, crescent-shaped beach ideal for strolling and sunbathing, where relatevely warm waters and light surf make swimming and boating a pleasure. A few feet from the crowded summer sands are trails for walking and nature watching. Beautiful beach. Very uncrowded, usually. Great kids beach. Rocks to climb on, a little river to play in.

Is this beach dog friendly? Or can you recommend a beach near Portland that is. Unfortunately all I found the dogs are allowed only allowed before 9am.

Angelita Grima | Aug 17, 2020
Geoff Fallon | Aug 17, 2020

Instead of crescent you may want to try Kettle Cove. People have their dogs on the grassy area by the beach all the time. If you follow the path all the way past the point there is a small beach there that is secluded and usually empty. We let our dog swim there in the summer and have never had issues.
