Everyone was so so lovely. The beds were really comfy and they had ear plugs to block out seagulls songs. The restaurant is fantastic, call and make a reservation because it’s a jewel and there isn’t anything else like it in the area (that I’m aware of). There isn’t A/C so consider the temperature, there is heat though. I will be coming back soon. They literally thought of everything!

Unfortunately I feel compelled to write a negative review in hopes that the staff (Marketing included!) can take notes and edit their website accordingly to reflect what is actually being offered here. I paid approximately 200-250 dollars a night (Friday and saturday night) to stay at the Adrift hotel just for a queen room. At that price point, you’d expect above average accommodations, or at least comfortable ones. Sadly, that was not delivered at this establishment. First things first: they are incorrectly advertising what they provide. They boast about relaxation, romantic getaways, and talk about rustic-themed rooms with quality materials. What you get is constant screaming from children and barking dogs (Even after “quiet hours” which obviously aren’t enforced), a small pool and sauna that is over-run with children, and rooms that are slapped together with a bad paint job and exposed glue. The rooms overlook the parking lot, which means you have to keep the curtains closed for privacy… and the curtains didn’t cover the whole window. I did read this was an older hotel that they “renovated” — but frankly, they needed to spend quite a few more hundreds of thousands of dollars to fix it up to the standards they are aiming for. It’s funny and shocking at how bad this place is — and all of their mainstream marketing efforts to show what it exactly isn’t. There is no sound proofing, not enough lighting, things are breaking, etc. If this was marketed as a family-friendly fun establishment, it would make sense. And maybe at at least 50-100 dollars cheaper to reflect the poorer quality of the rooms. They had no coffee makers or microwaves in the rooms (I had to heat up my food literally two feet away from a ping pong table that was actively being played at…) and no air conditioner. Finally, checking in and checking out… there was something off about both of these experiences. Checking in was confusing and my friend and I didn’t feel welcomed, and checking out they almost charged me for a service my friend had already paid for. In both situations it seemed like staff were being trained, which indicated to me that there may be some high turn over. Slowly but surely, there’s going to be enough 1-2 stars here that people will start to notice how bad it actually is. Looking through these reviews, I genuinely don’t believe that some of the 5 star ones are real. I hate to say this, but at this point it feels like a cash-grab from people who do not have deep knowledge and experience in the hospitality industry. However, I’m giving this two stars instead of one because the massage I received at their spa was excellent and the location is superb. I hope this comes off as a critical observation and not bashing individuals. I want them to make a conscious effort in doing better for this price point, make sure they live up to what they’re saying they do, and put in some serious time/money to make that place as awesome as it could be. I really think there’s potential here, but as it stands it was quite below average.

When I made my reservation for the Adrift Hotel & Spa, the website made it look serene, inviting, even…romantic if you were in that situation. Packages include the “romance package” and the “rejuvenation package.” All things that on the surface might make you think “This is going to be relaxing.” Well, the marketing worked, but the truth was far from relaxing. The rooms are definitely minimalist, with light bulbs hanging from ropes that are not only dim, but are so fun to try and turn on as they swing above you (think interrogation room from “Law and Order” or ship cabin in a storm). No coffee maker in the room, but they do offer coffee and tea downstairs in the lobby. Then I saw the earplugs. Five sets of new earplugs scattered about the room. I thought “that’s nice for people who need it, but I can sleep fine.” Turns out the earplugs weren’t a cute idea, they were necessary. You could hear EVERY SINGLE THING HAPPENING IN THE HOTEL. My room was right next to the “game room.” Imagine being a fly on the wall at an unhappy family reunion because that was how I felt hearing every child scream, every couple bicker and every dog bark. It wasn’t relaxing. The staff seemed traumatized. Not many smiles, a lot of blank stares when we tried to make conversation and an overcharge on both mine and my friend’s bill that we luckily caught before leaving. The food at the restaurant was not amazing. We went for breakfast and once we ordered, it came out 2 minutes later. The bacon wasn’t just cooked, it was petrified. Overall, I recognize that the walls being thin isn’t the staff’s fault. This felt like a flip job done cheaply. The only way to fix the sound issue would be to tear open all the walls and re-insulate them. I just wish the website was more honest about the noise issues at the hotel. I know it’s not a selling point, but at least people won’t feel like they were lied to.

Adrift is a great local hotel right on the beach, and super dog friendly! The staff is always friendly and you can tell they take pride in their business. We have stayed here 4 times and always are satisfied with our experience. They offer all the amenities we want out of a hotel, and at reasonable prices (especially in the winter). It feels good supporting this local business!
