Captain and crew were great! They were doing their best to find a good spot to fish and were helpful to everyone needing assistance. About everyone on the boat caught something. It was a fun time and if I find myself back in the area I'll definitely go again!

The boat crews were amazing. However the fishing could be better we barely caught any fish if any. Maybe its just over-fishing that's why the fish count is so low.

Awesome experience! Highly recommend this company. Good prices and even better crew. Crew was very attentive and helpful with everything. They even let us stay out longer since the bite was good. 10/10 in my opinion

After reading LOTS of mixed reviews about Helgrens I decided to take a chance and Booked my son and I on a 1/2 day fishing trip…it was AMAZING! 10/10 would recommend. This is a fun laid back fishing trip that anyone can enjoy, even someone who has no clue what they are doing (me) they made it super easy and super fun. They were there to untangle your line and they were super patient with my son who got his tangled up a few times. Jessie was amazing and super helpful in explaining how to use the pole and how to hook your bait correctly. He invited us back out while we were there but unfortunately we were not able to make it back. My son had the best time and got some really good tips from the locals who frequent trips with Helgrens, everyone was super nice and welcoming. We will definitely be booking again the next time we’re in town!! Thank you for helping to make our vacation a memorable one!! Also, after reading a lot of other peoples complaints…please read the email they send you after you book, tells you literally everything you need to know.

When I went I used a regular cooker froze the fish then got some dry ice from a grocery store and put that on the fish it stayed frozen all the way home.

Depends on the time of year. Helgrens 3/4 day does not fish the islands or Mexico due to the distance from Oceanside normally it's whatever's biting preferably Yellow Tail as soon as they show up
Parking Is also free rite at the harbor where you check in at the booth
Yes they require you to wear a face mask... Especially in the harbor.
Yes, Helgrens still offer Whale watching go to www.helgrensportfishing.com Also Oceanside Adventures does them year round on a dedicated Whale watching boat with sound and underwater cameras.... Both of these companies are very experienced.
Leave the cooler in your car for taking the fish home. They have food and drinks on the boat. You can rent a rod or bring your own.
It's $16.20 for a 1-day California Fishing License, (Cash Only at Helgren's Ticket Kiosk), you can also purchase online at the California Fish & Wildlife website. Annuals, Lobster cards, etc., are also available, prices range based on license selected.
