No business or person is perfect. Blue Moon Camera & Machine is no exception. But, what distinguishes a 5 star business from others is how they handle their mistakes... Blue Moon made at least 3 during my first order, but handled each one with professionalism: 1) I came to pick up my order and it was missing one item. Fortunately I noticed it before I left the store. (The employee, David, apologized and quickly found the missing item.) 2) When I got home, the USB flash drive I gave them to upload my scanned images was empty. (I had to call three separate times to resolve the issue, but all employees I talked to were personable and professional. I was able to download the images via a Dropbox link they sent me.) 3) They only gave me one page to hold slide mounts instead of two. (I was told over the phone that the next time I can come in, they'll give me a few sheets free of charge.) Despite those mistakes, I felt like a valued customer the whole time. I will be coming back for more business again in the near future! I really appreciate Blue Moon Camera & Machine. There aren't a lot of options for film photography in the greater Portland area and their glowing reviews are well deserved.

Much more than just a curiosity shop filled with cool gear and stuff. This place has the knowledgeable staff, professional film services, and photo supplies that make it a west coast photographic treasure.

Love this place. 10/10 customer service, knowledge, care, etc. etc. Wouldn't trust my film or questions anywhere else. Fair prices and amazingly smooth interactions/work. For a film newbie, Blue Moon is especially open, friendly, and unintimidating too. I hope they stay in st. johns forever!!

I was really impressed with the time, knowledge, passion and dedication these employees demonstrate to fix you up with the right gear. I was looking to get into film for the first time. Jackson took the time to help me weigh all of my film camera options, talking through the pros and cons of each camera type and brand. Which they have a great variety in inventory! When we found a match, he walked me through all of the functions in great detail. This was very helpful for a beginner, I highly recommend this place to photographers of all levels.

I have purchased new and used cameras and lenses at Blue Moon.
Customers wait in a clearly marked socially distanced line to get service from a desk they have set up outside. If you are getting film developed they have the form to fill out and drop your film cannister(s) into outside the store.

We send out typewriters for a complete overhaul. Plan on $99 and around four months turnaround time at the outside. That is a good quote for manual typewriters and most IBM Selectrics.
Blue Moon Camera would be the best place to take your photos. They'll take a look and give you an honest answer. I highly recommend this place!
