Trails are in good condition and wildflowers are just starting to bloom.

Very well defined trail. It had adequate sinage, as well as shadey spots. It also had excellent lake access in a less busy part of the lake.

Perfect hike. We love that it's a loop and that the summit is an option. We are also glad we chose the northerly route first so that the ascent was in the shade (mostly).

Come May and you are itching to hike in the mountains, but there is too much snow pack left, then try this trail. At 3511 feet next to Winthrop it nonetheless commands a great panorama of the Methow and Cascades. Combine that with prolific wildflowers and you have a memorable hike. There is the loop, but an obvious spur trail leads to the summit. Park at the public fishing lot. Trail on east side of road.
