I love animals. When I have money, I like to donate what I can. It's hard. I have a large dog, a cat and her new 3 kittens. In about a mother 2 weeks they will be ready for adoption. Although there is one that I might keep. Male or female it won't matter. I fell head over heels for this munchkin. LOL

My experience with Rugaz Rescue was awesome! The people behind Rugaz are true advocates for dogs, all dogs regardless of age, size, breed and condition. While dedicated volunteers with Rugaz especially value the awesomeness of large breeds, like pitbulls, they also care about the little guys. Thus, my family and I just adopted a chihuahua girl from Rugaz and we couldn't be happier! Working with Devilyn in particular was awesome, as I saw how the dogs in her care were truly loved and well cared for. At adoption my chihuahua was clean, alert, friendly and had the appearance of a healthy dog. Devilyn had all my dog's paperwork in order, which showed all shots and medical care was up to date. Devilyn enthusiastically shared about my chihuahua and how Rugaz Rescue does the great work they do for dogs in need. You can tell her heart is in it; she absolutely goes above and beyond for the pups in her care. I recommend Rugaz Rescue most highly. My family is thrilled with how sweet natured, well adjusted and socialized our little chihuahua is, and we believe Rugaz Rescue had their loving hands in that. Thank you Rugaz and Devilyn especially for helping dogs find loving homes where they can thrive and live their best lives!

I am so pleased with Rugaz Rescue! My fiance, our Cocker Spaniel Rusty & I have a beautiful & loving new family member Victoria Beckham! Our new Cocker Spaniel will be loved with lots of family time and just enjoying the rest of her senior years with us. I thank everyone who is involved with giving another chance to animals that are very well deserving. We Thank Devilyn so much for taking such great care of Victoria & saving her life. She brings so much joy to our family, and we are just so thankful that Ms. Victoria was rescued. Thank you & Bless you all!

Questions & Answers

Hi..I am extremely interested in adopting a "bully" dog my only concern is I was a wildlife rehabber & I have 3 NR squirrels ( who must come first). Do "bully's" get along with wildlife? Thanks!

Reaction to wildlife or other animals is not a breed specific thing. Rugaz has volunteers who do thorough meet/greets with new adopters, specially ones with specific needs as yours. Just make sure to be up front about needing a small animal friendly match in an adoptable animal. <3 Good Luck!

How do we meet a dog that we are interested in and how dow we contact your organization?

Paul, If the owner has abandoned her and she is in need of medical care she needs to get to her county animal services shelter. They have emergency services that will assist with immediate medical care and work with organizations such as ours who pull those types of pups from them. This way this pup receives immediate medical attention and proper legal ownership and documentation against the previous owner as well.

You have to call them and make an appointment and should you want to adopt one of the animals there's a pretty intense application.

We found a little baby kitten, its eyes aren't open and crying for its mama. Who do I need to call to get this baby taken care of ?

Animal control or you can try the Humane Society of Tampa Bay

How much does it cost to adopt a puppy and do they have a variety and also can you just show up without an appointment

I recommended contacting the organization via their website or Facebook page to speak with a volunteer to make arrangements to meet/greet an available dog for adoption.

How much is adoption?

Alicia Morris | Aug 17, 2020

Their website says: Adoption Donations are $300 and include all up to date shots, heart-worm clear (or heart-worm treatment), medical and temperament evaluation.

Hi Devlin a friend suggested I contact you because you have seen a lot of unusual dog "stuff". We have a boxer with a lipoma cancer on his head. Have you ever seen or heard of any treatments for that? Susan

Hey, this forum is not a direct contact to any volunteers. If you need to reach any specific volunteers. I suggest you please try going through email or PM on facebook where they can get you to who you need. :-)

I have filled out an application , emailed. How long does it take for Rugaz rescues to answer? Are the real? No phone calls , and pobox for an address.

Kelly Poulin | Aug 18, 2019
aeon fortehwin | Nov 20, 2021

The rescue is ran by volunteers. They all work during day and help out when they can. Rugaz has been around for over a decade and I'm sure their email and Facebook PMs are inundated. O would just resend your inquiry if emailing and/or send them another PM (private message) via their facebook page.

We have tried to handle our Pit bull an we have a small toddler an I want the dog to have a good home we just can’t keep him

Shirley Hanson | Aug 18, 2018

The animal should be surrendered to animal control, the shelters are 90% no-kill these days. The shelter is where local rescues pull their animals needing adoption from.
