Some of the nicest people in the world they care about your dog even when you have to put them down they’re the kind of people really help you go through a ordeal when it’s so hard to put a friend down. A+
Mr. Troy

I adopted a cat on Sunday and the staff at the Humane Society was extremely helpful. From letting me interact with my cat beforehand to providing the cat's vetinary history to giving me recommendations about what he might need right away, Truly made this process so easy and stress-free for both us and our new cat.

Thank you El Cajon Animal Control. We were able to to reunite with our family dog that ran away but was found and brought to the shelter. When we got him back we could tell he was cared for lovingly. they examined him and took all the precautionary measures to ensure that he would be safe. Every penny was worth paying for and reasonable. If you have lost your pet and is at the shelter be prepared to take your ID a picture of your pets and money.

Still need a home for your pup?
I would suggest that you start by volunteering. That way, you have your foot in the door and begin experience for when there is an opening.
Where did you find a fee schedule?
If you still need this service, I personally recommend Bastet Vet. Hospital in Greenfield Dr ($250) or Rancho Mesa Animal Hospital ($370).
I've done it before by calling animal control.
You take the pet inside and tell the receptionist you can longer afford to care for your pet. It is called surrendering. You should be told then about options with free food if you want to keep your pet.
Yes
This shelter is no longer owned by the City of El Cajon. It is now part of the San Diego Humane Society. As a volunteer, I can say that the employees love animals and receive training. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but this place has changed and the humane society really cares about animals and their owners.
Yes they will
Check out the website at sdhumane.org. Click on "adopt". You will see all the animals they have available for adoption. The list is constantly updated throughout the day. You can search by dog and age. Puppies are $200 If you see a puppy listed, it's available! But act fast because puppies, and little dogs, go fast! It's first come, first served! Make sure you go to the right location. The San Diego Humane Society has multiple locations: San Diego, El Cajon, Oceanside, and Escondido.
Yes there is and it starts at $40.
Yes. It is on the City of El Cajon Police Department's website. I don't know how to send a link on this app but you can Google El Cajon Animal Shelter. The brand new animal shelter will open in two months!! It's down the street from the current one. Hope this helps!!
Pawp is a really good idea for pet owners 20 a month for pet emergencies
The humane society has a list of when they give vaccinations and which place.
Box him and use the bus.
Hi Ashley, we're so sorry to hear this. We know that's a difficult decision to make. For information about rehoming or relinquishing a pet, visit: https://www.sdhumane.org/programs/rehome-a-pet/
I would check the hours, but the El Cajon office is open
Hi Maritza, I'm so sorry to hear about you and your cats. I work for San Diego Humane Society and we are here to help! Here's info on our website about how you might rehome your cats or can make an appointment to bring them to the shelter: https://www.sdhumane.org/programs/rehome-a-pet/. Good luck!
Hi Paula, I work at San Diego Humane Society and we don't have microchipping set up yet at this new location, but you can make at appointment at one of our other campuses. San Diego is the closest. Here's a link: https://www.sdhumane.org/services/microchipping/. Thanks for reaching out!
Please call tomorrow, Tuesday, for assistance. Ph # 619-441-1580, 10 am - 5 pm. In the meantime, contact So Cal Belgian Malinois Rescue, German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County, or other reputable rescues. The San Diego County Dept of Animal Services has a list under the Rescue Partners tab on their website. Visit sddac.com and choose the I Want tab to find the rescue partners list.
Yes! They do take Guinea pigs.
No dog fitting that description has been brought to our shelter within the last 2 months. Please check with the Chula Vista Animal Care Facility. You might also want to post your lost pet on Pawboost.com. We wish you the best in finding your dog.
I work for San Diego Humane Society. Thank you for your interest in adopting and for reaching out to us! You can see our available pets here: https://www.sdhumane.org/adopt/available-pets/. Our animals change daily, so when you see one you're interested in, please click "Adopt me" to express interest and make an appointment as soon as possible since adoptions are first come, first served.
I would love to take her or he with me
A stray will be put up for adoption in 3 days. They're closed on Mondays, so if you're interested, call first thing in the morning and put yourself on the list.
Yes, we'd appreciate those donations. Thank you!
Yes, you can bring them there. They keep them so people can look there. If the owner doesn't claim them, they get adopted out.
You can call and ask if the pet is at the shelter, but it's better if you come in and look. The only pets posted online are those available for adoption (see Petfinder and Adopt-a-Pet).
Are the dogs in your possession? Do you have a picture of them? There is a Facebook neighborhood page I'd be happy to post the details in it for you...
Report them every day until someone schools them
Volunteer applications are available at the front desk. They are currently in need!
Yes.
Please call the office on Tuesday to inquire. The office is open from 10:00-5:30, Tuesday-Saturday, but it closes for lunch from 1:00-2:00.
Pretty positive that they're closed on Sundays. And Mondays.
I've just seen dogs and cats
