Don't expect them to help if you call. They will send someone hours later and when they do show up they won't help.

A foster care individual by the name of Roxy Stedman-Smith through conversion or constructive larceny stole our ESD... and emotional support dog who works with veterans and is a family pet of 12 years. I cannot tell my son about this situation it was his dog that he was given when the puppy was eight weeks old because he was being bullied at school now he’s going into the Air Force and I could never tell him that this happened if I could not find Reuben. The defendant in this case tried to hide him she refused to give us her location or let us have contact with the dog even though it was very clear she was not going to get to keep him. She even apologized for her behavior because she said she fell in love with the dog and did not want to give him up. Instead what she did was to tell us that the dog had cancer and she cruelly told us that she had put him down and cremated him and we would never get to see him again or even say goodbye. She called us names she was vicious it made no sense. Using computer forensics with a friend of mine who used to be a director at Microsoft we were able to locate her. We had many false trails and spent many hours going to the wrong locations. Subsequently we worked with Stevens County Sheriff’s Office or Department which does animal control in Stevens County to locate the dog...our beloved pet. Law-enforcement went to the house and verified that the dog was on the premises. He appeared to be living in a kennel it was not a good situation. The officers went out of their way to be totally kind and considerate even though it’s just a dog. They were polite and respectful and even comforting. Later that week on the way to court myself and some vets who love the dog went to go visit Roxy first. The dog that she claims she was taken care of was wandering in the road. He appeared to have been in a dog fight and was missing some teeth as well as having blood on his ruff. He has been taken to two vets...one emergency care than a reputable veterinarian as it turns out he does not have cancer at all but severe allergies. We are so grateful to the Stevens County Sherriff’s department for finding him and letting us know that he was alive. Dogs are considered property in Washington state and therefore it’s very difficult to retrieve them if you don’t know where they are. Law-enforcement gets criticized but they cannot do anything without a court order. This is why it’s extremely important to microchip your dog and keep all the records and never never never do what I did which is to trust somebody with your beloved family member... always get something in writing. I highly recommend licensing and signing up with SCRAPS and licensing your... pets it’s also proof of the chain of custody. In our case Roxy has never denied that she was fostering the dog...in fact she’s made it very public that she even stole the dog. She is proud of this fact. She’s a licensed practical nurse and it makes no sense. She claimed the dog was going to go to work with her to work with vulnerable adults a task that is noble and something that our dog has done before he has worked with or been with veterans who need special support but none of this was true. This is why we are going public because we can’t imagine what type of person would do this. Dogs may be treated like a table or a chair under the law but to us they are people too. Perhaps we should consider changing the laws. There are extra penalties for stealing and concealing service animals and ESD animals. It’s sad to say but this happens all the time! Protect your pet. License them and microchip them. And work with others to bring them home! If you have to put your dog in foster care work with reputable organizations like SCRAPS. Thank you thank you thank you to Stevens County Deputies. Five Stars.

If you are on their good side. You can get away with anything. If you are on their bad side. Then you're screwed. Isnt that how justice should always work? I don't think so

Some body do their job!!

Has Deputy Garza been harassing anyone else out there? She seems to have a real ego problem which needs to be put in check. It is officers like her that give good officers a bad rap.
