I injured my knee 7/3/22, chasing my dog at the beach while on vacation. I cried in pain for 1 hour in an ER exam room before I was given a pain med injection. Staff wasted no time waiting to see if pain medication was effective, they immediately started twisting & turning my injury to cause as much pain as possible for xrays. I cried in pain for an additional hour with no offer of alternate pain medications or even so much as a nurse checking on me. After crying for 2 hours alone in an exam room, I was discharged. To make matters worse, as i was crying in pain at discharge, the nurse asked most unempathetically, "Were you drinking?". Of course not, how offensive. SOBER PEOPLE CAN FALL! BUT thats not all!!!! The entire 2 hours I cried in pain, I was forced to listen to a nurse on the other side of the curtain, complaining & rambling to a poor old man who didnt have the strength to hush her or walk away, about being an overpaid travel nurse from Tennessee who doesn't like this tourist town because the campgrounds filled up in May & she had to pay overpriced rent instead of camping on her generous salary. She was very upset with this tourist town, that was so busy for 4th of July weekend, that she didnt get to drink a single cup of her normal 6 cups of coffee per shift. When she finally did close her mouth & do her job, I heard her offering dilaudid to patients that weren't crying in pain. After suffering for over 2 weeks with nothing but a faulty brace that lost half of its straps in the first 24 hours, I made it home to see my PCP, who actually cares about my well being. My PCP informed me that I already take a high dose of the pain injection medication they gave me, for my polyarthritis. They gave me the same med twice @ this ER & thats why it didn't help me at all. It could have been worse had it been a harmful strength dose once combined. My PCP said that if any care professional would have peeked at my chart for a moment, they would have known that because it is very obvious. He also repeated what I already knew. Xrays show bone injuries/abnormalities. An MRI was what should have been ordered to view potentially ripped/damaged tendons & ligaments. Turns out I have a torn meniscus. The Providence Seaside Hospital did absolutely nothing for me & completely wasted my already miserable vacation time.

The staff that I have been under the care of are amazing people. I feel comfortable when I have my appointments. I understand a little about the behind the scenes of the communication work that happens in the medical community and there is a lot to it. I have some pretty pressing issues and I am thankful for the professionalism here. Sometimes it is hard for me to communicate properly and others as well. Thank you all for the humility and humanity. So every nurse and doctor at the seaside emergency room hospital has always been a pleasure to work with. Very helpful people. But my husband went in today and has two service dogs. Both dogs have been in the hospital multiple times and are known service dogs. One for epilepsy and the other both epilepsy and emotional support. One of the dogs yes is pregnant. But a nurse...an older heavy set lady with grey hair in a ponytail was very rude and disrespectful. For a nurse who it is her job to help the patient and reassure the patients significant other in a good way that things will be ok. This nurse failed and put me through a substantial amount of n needed added stress. This nurse scouked at me and made a very rude comment on my dog who is carrying puppies. I don't know if it's a discrimination things against my dogs breed as she is a pit mix. Or if it's the fact that me and my husband are homeless. All lives matter and there is no reason for any person along her job type to be so rude and judgemental. We are all human. Someone who works this type of job should be fired and rejected from this line of work with an attitude like that. It's emotionally disturbing. I've never had a problem with this hospital but my comment of advice for them is to not hire a person who has discrimination problems and judges by the cover.

I went to the ER with a broken wrist. Every person there was terrific. My nurse, Mary was great and Dr Smart did a fantastic job with the help of a wonderful ED tech whose name I don’t recall in reducing my wrist and realigning the bones. Everyone was very professional and kind. So grateful to have such a nice facility available while on vacation.
