You can make reservations for a sure table, but when I went I didn't make one and was lucky to have a table open.
We always appreciate reservations in advance, but they are not required. In the summer during a weekday, you are probably going to get a good table with or without reservations. On Fridays and Saturdays, and especially during our high-season (October-February) we strongly recommend reservations.

They are not required. But, they increase the chances of getting a decent table.
