Usually, yes. I believe there were "off peak" days and times where you could go in for free. It is all easy to find on their website. The couple bucks they want is well worth it. In the spring and or after a really good rain is when the falls are the best. The castle is very cool and if you take the trails there are some caves really worth the effort.
To actually go back there where the castles are is like 7$ an adult and kids are free
