Kanopolis lake has a lot of different things to explore, Faris caves a old town that has a population of 20 people with old building's.
Kanapolis is very close with great hiking!
There is a great historic museum, home, and one room schoolhouse in nearby Ellsworth.
Check out Lindsborg, KS. Swedish settlement with lots of nice places in the city. To the north off Hwy 4 is Coronado Heights, site of a fantastic WPA park and an unbelievable view.
I like to stop at Alcove Springs on my way.
While you can only drive around and just look. The town of Carneiro is an interesting sort of a ghost town. The buildings are all private property.
I second Kanapolis Lake for hiking, fishing or hunting. Also the Garden of Eden in Lucas, KS is in the area.
