I won 1200 in Sept, but didn't get a 1099, I just received a piece of paper with my earnings. Will I receive a 1099 in the mail before end of January?

I am not sure you have to claim that, I think the law says you have to win MORE than $1200.00 on a prize for it to be taxable. Is the reason casinos and bingo halls have their prizes at those limits.
