I'm pretty sure they have gift certs/cards. Not sure about getting change.

Most of the time you don't get physical money change on gift cards, the remaining balance can be applied to a future purchase or added as part of the tip to the server, hopefully you've already taught your student about tipping so that shouldn't be an issue. Hope this helps!
