I am the town manager for Tortilla Flat. The road is completely done down to the bridge right past the town at tortilla creek. The crews will be working over the next few weeks to complete the 6 miles of pavement past the town up to where the dirt road begins. It is now a nice smooth drive all the way down to town.
Yes apparently it is finished as of a few months ago. But u have to head there early or u will be in slow wait as boats and RVs traverse that area too.
I drove it 2 weeks ago and they were working on the road. We were stopped for about an hour and a half because they are repaving part of it. I would recommend that you stay away from there until they finish the road because it is a long wait.
Yes, good all the way to Tortilla Flat. But, adot has seen fit to sit on their posterior and not finish the road all the way to Roosevelt Lake. Don't think they care about the local businesses, or not enough political influence.
The road is absolutely perfect now. Great scenic drive to enjoy the surrounding mountains. Its now a drive that everyone could enjoy. They even leveled out dips by the bridge that caused your trailer to jump if you didn't go over it slow enough. I love taking this drive with the family. That old road was terrible and literally could shake things apart. I even saw a motorcycle slide out on a curve due to loose gravel. This road is very beautiful, safe and a pleasure to drive.
I went up a couple of days ago on motorcycle. They did a great job repairing the road. Once you go past the restaurant in Tortilla Flat heading east, there was some construction near the bridge. I saw some boat trailers turning around because of the construction but, a regular size vehicle can get through.
Depends on the day you travel. We went on a week day last week and had about a 30 minute wait due to paving. My guess is they have done a lot of work in a week.
From Apache Junction up to Tortilla Flat is in good shape with some sections being repaved.
Road is better now. They. The construction workers made higher banks where there is no fence. I've seen two fifth wheelers going . More than 34' through there which they should'nt on 88. They should've take 87 to 188.that you have to watch for. Go during the week if you're driving past tortilla flat. Otherwise before it road is good
We were there last week and it's rough in a few places but not bad.
