I’m planning a graduation party that would include adults, teenagers, and pre-teens. I would like a sheltered picnic area with a pleasant environment. Would you recommend this park?

I walk to that park all the time, different times of the day through out the week. I recommend doing a party around 1pm ish to give them plenty of time to have fun before the dark hours. Of course, any park will attract a rough crowd in the later hours but I think this one would be a great place for you to have your event. They can swim, play on the playground or big grassy area and it's beautiful during the nicer weather. They do have a covered area but to each their own on opinions.

Wouldn't be my 1st choice.

No, this park is infested with homeless people, some that live in their cars and some in their travel trailers and some just hanging out, (not some..a LOT) on foot. It's not a real comfortable feeling. I have nothing against the homeless, but some of these are homeless because their lifestyle.
