You have to register a plate to a vehicle before putting it on the vehicle on
If you sold it and have the plate you would turn it in and when you get another rv you should not have to pay for plate just transfer fee on a new plate
If im not mistaken, you cannot put a license plate on a vehicle that the license plate is not registered to. Law enforcement will look at that is improper plates and could impound a vehicle and ticket you. If you just bought a new or used RV, from a dealer, that dealer should have gave you a temporary plate. Then, you can go to the Secretary of State in whatever state you live in and transfer the old license plate to the new RV.
