As a patient, you may decide which doctor(s) you would like to provide your treatment. If your primary care physician refers you elsewhere, you may ask them to write a referral to our office. You will want to double check, though, to make sure that our office participates with your insurance company.
Definitely the insurance bit. If its your family doctor recommending then they most likely think it is something you would benefit seeing an orthopedic doctor for. If it is an orthopedist you're already seeing them they possibly feel you would be recieving the best care from a fellow orthopedist. Some specialize in certain areas of the body so it's always good to make sure the doctor you're seeing is best for you.
