When checking your hydraulic brakes for your cdl test should your key be in the auxiliary position or should your engine be turned on? I can not find the answer anywhere and I have taken my CDL test twice and have failed on the brake test both time

When I took my CDL test mine was in the on position but I didn't go to road master for training so my school taught things a little different
