My advice would be to come in and speak with an artist. Tattoos to some people are very painful and to some are not at all. It really depends on you. If you are starting with something small the tattoo will be over somewhat quickly as long as you sit still so if it is painful to you, it wont last very long. I hope that helps. You can always call the shop with any questions you have as well

Personally, the pain from a tattoo was similar to receiving a mild burn or a scratch on the skin. The pain that you will experience also depends on the location. For example the inner forearm for me didn't hurt in comparison to on my elbow. Take a moment research what you can do to help numb the pain. Different tattoo artists have different things that they can apply to reduce the pain of the tattoo. If you're receiving a small tattoo I highly doubt that you'll feel a pain level of 10/10 but more than likely 3/10. Please, double and triple check that the Chinese word you're planning to have on your body is the correct word. Many people realize that they made a mistake after the fact of receiving the tattoo. Don't worry you'll be fine. Keep in mind that the pain is temporary but the tattoo is not. Good luck!

Pain is in the mind, it should not be that painful. I have one on my forearm...inside.
