I was told by a lake county judge that if a defendant motions for a change of venue, it must be granted by law. is that correct? i was given no explanation as to why it was requested or to where. this is a small claims case from lake county.

I believe you have to prove why you need a change of venue and then it is actually up to the judge you pretty much have to prove why you don't feel that you are going to get a fair trial good luck to you

I'm pretty sure it is correct and if the venue was changed then it was probably changed to crown point.
