Inventory changes daily
Classic books may be easiest to find: 1) Check "clearance" in the back. Many classics are commonly used in school curricula an may end up in clearance due to surplus, bent or damaged covers, or highlighting/notes- but still perfectly readable. Some may not be catalogued. 2) Although it often appears the staffers are hard at work sorting, shelving, or moving inventory, don't worry about imposing by asking for help; they can't stock shelves without sales from you. The workers are endearingly named "bibliophiles," like starbucks baristas, because of the prerequisite love and knowledge of books. If they cannot answer you, they will find a bibliophile more familiar with the area to assist you. They won't BS you to pretendin and more importantly - won't leave you to face an overwhelming array of shelving to fend for yourself if the solution isn't immediately apparent or requires work. In 6+ stores, they've always been willing to help, even in seemingly less friendly cities or parts of town.
