Why did the church get rid of confessionals? I have been a devout Catholic all of my life and I and many of my friends won’t go to confession anymore because theyhave to face a priest and the will go to another parish to confess their sins.

At St Stephen we have both, your choice. And I believe St Ann's is the same way.

I would venture a guess that most people do not go to confession anymore because it isn’t private anymore. I want to go to confession, as many of my friends and relatives have also expressed, but our church doesn’t provide the confessional “box” anymore. I bet not many are comfortable and refuse to confess with their regular priest. I am one and hope things change.
