Take into office and hand to counter people they will cancel plates. If you have time left and plan to get a car before the plates expire then they will give you a slip otherwise just give them the plates.
I was trying to help my son do something then he's doing things not supposed to be doing so I called up my insurance company they said I can go ahead and cancel the insurance and do the plates tomorrow but my son will not give me back the plates so what do I do
You need to bring both plates. You don't get money back. They don't have pro rate system.
Take them in and turn them in. Make sure you get a paper saying that you did. For future confirmation.
Go to the dmv and tell them that you want to cancel your plates but do it before it's too late
