A rock retaining wall would be a good fix . Depending on the slope of your yard it will vary on the height of the retainer wall. I personally would go with a dry stack field stone. Put a layer of landscaping fabrick behind the wall and back fill will soil . The fabric will allow the drainage of your run off but will not let the soil escape from behind the wall. Depending on the type of stone you choose.... Tennessee field stone...... Is what i always use for my retaining walls when im working in the Lexington ky area.... this would be about the most cost affective way to go with this issue. You are on the right track already by thinking of using Tracy's sand and gravel. They are great people and very knowledgeable about projects like yours. They always treated me right . I shopped around and they saved me about $7000 total on one of the retainer walls i contracted, good luck i hope this helped with an answer to your question.
