Find a different scrap yard this yard doesn't give you good prices.
Hi Ron, I do not work for Elgin Recycling. To answer your question, yes they will buy/scrap your clothes dryers. I've been a customer for quite some now so I can give you a few "pointers" before you bring in your machine. You can bring it in as a whole but you absolutely will not get a good price because they will have to break it down and sort out the different metals & parts. If you can, I would suggest breaking it down yourself and separate it into "like" piles...example: wiring, stainless steel, brass, copper, etc.. doing it this way will give you the highest dollar amount for each metal. I have a friend that drives OTR and he had a semi that had a blown engine and to fix it would've cost him $20-$30K, which totally isn't worth it, anyways, he had the rig towed to the scrap yard and they paid him only $800.00!! Yes, EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS for a Freightliner rig! Hope I was able to help!
