Just got back from there with my son and 3 grandsons. My son was honest saying he did not live in Warren, gave his license which he forgot to renew and we couldn't take the boys like we planned. What difference does an expired licence make?

It is illegal to accept an expired license for anything

They might have a policy that is implemented for safety reasons. They dont know why the license is expired. Legal issue or forgeting to renew, either or it's wise for the safety of the kids and families there.

It could be fake. But with a community center I honestly don't think it should matter.

Being around kids and areas which can at times be slippery, the city wants to make sure all names are processed no matter what or whom. If not only for liability reasons. Both my sister (who lives in Royal Oak) and I (living in Warren) have to show our license each month we renew our monthly pass. Once I had a paper license attached to my old license and they didn’t except it. Again??? But they were treating your son (a non-resident) no different than a Warren resident with a current license albeit a paper license attached to the old photo license which would be acceptable ID even if stopped by a police officer. They get a little strange and persnickety at that front desk. For instance my sister was paying for both her monthly fee and mine and they needed to do it as two separate transactions. When she went to sign it was another person’s name at the desk. The employee made it sound like it was my sister’s problem that she had given her wrong paper.
