That must be a used one, if so, definitely clean it first. You can still shoot it if you don't clean it first. Cleaning it to your liking is a good option plus, you gain even more familiarity with the firearm itself.
If you purchase a new firearm, you shoukd clean & oil it before you fire it the first time.
Unfortunately they don't clean used firearms
