Different games have different maximum number of players as well, and I strongly suggest you take as many people as the room will allow for a better time.
Usually no fewer than four. It's a LOT of fun!
I disagree with Michael, 4 is really the sweet spot. We did one that supposedly could do 8, but with 4 we had a few moments where not all of us had something to do. At the end, only two of us could contribute, while the third relayed info between us and the 4th was totally idle.
