How does layaway work

Item has to be at least $10 and the total price of all of the items you putting on layaway has to be at least $100. You take the items to the garden center where you make the first payment and then every other payment you can make it any register at Walmart. You're given a receipt that you show them when you want to make a payment. And then once it's all paid off you can pick up the items. However you can't put seasonal items, clothing, or food on layaway

I would call Walmart and ask them the criteria needed to put stuff in layaway. I've never put stuff in layaway at Walmart before but I would call and ask them how to do it, if I wanted to put things in layaway there. I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to put clothes in layaway though?? Food makes complete sense but I don't understand why clothes can't.
