I've made decent money in the past - but if it's a newer book, or a popular one, they don't have much use for it.
I agree, they do not give you much for your books. I would rather donate my books to Salvation Army so people benefit from the profits.
You bring in the books that you would like to sell, take them to the back of the store and drop them off with a buyer. They will take your collection, select out books that they would like to buy, and give you a quote for them. If there are any books they don't want they will usually recycle them for you, or you can take them back. It works pretty well, but don't expect to get rich off doing it.
