LaSalle lake would be a much better place in the area. If you're at the park with kids you can catch little fish. I did catch one decent catfish at Marilla last year with my kids but we never saw another one.
Try the illinois river.
Not much of a place for real fishing water is less than 3 feet deep mostly creek Chubb and some small catfish and bluegill
