Pretty sure your dog normally breathes mainly through his mouth during the day. At night the dogs mouth is normally closed which makes them breathe through their very powerful and sensitive noses. It takes a lot less dust/allergens etc for a dog to start sneezing compared to a human.
I would say allergies. Dogs have many of the same health conditions as people.
