Can you still cross the creek to the stadium? Or do you need to walk all the way around?

You can but you need to walk along the fence after.

You can definitely take the path and cross the creek, but the diverted the path along the fence and you basically go in the same entrance as you would if you just walked around

Yes you can but be aware of some dips in the walk along the fence so you don't trip and fall otherwise it's pretty clear. One nice addition is that someone put some lights up to help see on the path.
