Good Morning! I want to know what the purpose is of certified mail? The Post Office can't locate the package with a tracking #. It has been on Alert since 6/15/2018 and the 21093 PO has no idea where it is even though tracking has it there?

Certified mail is returned to sender after being unclaimed 15 days

The purpose of certified mail is to make sure someone actually signs for your package from the post office. It may still be at that particular post office and I think after 30 days being unclaimed they are supposed to send it back to the sender. I maybe wrong on time frame but that is the process
