I don't get why people say "because they work there." When they eat there. Fast food workers work harder than the majority of retail, office, labor, etc at the same entry level. It's a hot environment, you have to move and think within seconds while doing several things simultaneously, even hold multiple conversations all while trying to mentally prepare yourself for the next "just having a bad day" customer. I was once physically threatened for our establishment not serving Sweet Tea... It is the easiest entry level position to climb quickly and then you can play with marketing and forget the exact portion weight and price of any given item. Except, you are bound to spend the rest of your life waking up to that annoying "ding" in your head, if you're lucky enough to sleep at all...ever...again.
Usually it is because the customer is being rude or impatient, but sometimes people just have a bad day. If it is a consistent issue you should contact management for a resolution.
