Is the "City View" offering/option that much different than the standard room view?

Not really.

I suprised my wife with a room here after a night out and the room was nice the view was very nice and the staff were very professional! The breakfast in the morning was pretty good as well and the breakfast buffet was open till 11! That's not to common in hotels they usually shut the breakfast down by 9/930am.Our stay at this hotel was great and we will for sure be returning!

There ARE rooms that face east, looking out towards the Southfield city skyline (sunrise sure looks swell from that side/arc). The other rooms overlook a more industrial view.
