Plan a full day for the museum and another for Greenfield Village.
You could easily spend an entire day, if you read and view all the displays. We returned the next day to see a few areas that we had missed.

We spent 4.5 hours with 4 kids, including lunch break. Could have seen more, but they were ready for a change of venue.
