Went on the free tour, there were definitely children on the tour, lots of interesting things to see. Of course they can't get the free beer but I believe a soft drink is provided.
I'm not sure why people bring their kids on a beer tour... at least small children. They can be distracting and a nuisance. If your kids are well mannered, then sure, go ahead and bring them... if not, it's best to do the "stables only" tour.
Absolutely--lots of big, cool stuff to see and the horses, of course! We did the free tour, had children in our group, and was well worth the time and super interesting. Shows the process with visits to some of the kettles and aging cellar, and the Clydesdale stables.
