Does a funeral director need to be involved with handling the ashes?

Hello Jean, a funeral director does not need to handle the ashes. Usually they are provided to the loved ones for a scattering, burial, keeping at home or a number of other options.

Not 100% sure of the question, but we recently used Neptune Society and, once they receive the ashes, you can just go pick them up. You'll receive them in a travel safe bag within a sealed plastic box within another cardboard box.
