You have to ignore the rudeness, not all the customs agents are like that, but they do take their jobs very seriously. Canada will never tell you no, unless you have a criminal offence on your record. I go over there a lot during the spring, summer, and fall season. Best thing to do is just answer there questions in a kind manner and go about your business. A lot of the questions that they ask are not unprofessional as someone suggested earlier. There are a lot of shady people out there with fake ID's when trying to enter the USA. Don't take it personal, I go there often and have never had a problem at any of the points of entry, and I'm on a bicycle.
No clue sorry
Why are asking me
You need go call and find out why they said that. Each and every case is different. Are they allowed to rude? Not really, bur they get away with it, stating that they are trying to enforce the law and they are going their job. If you feel they were out of line you can always report them, but you would need their badge number
Yes they are allowed to be rude. Its to be expected just kill them with kindness or pretend to be robot. Its unfair but its how they are very often. The one day Canada will tell you know sounds to me like one day Canada wont let Americans in the country which is not true. Typically American border guards are worse. For example last time i crossed back into America the guard looked at my passport and asked if I was American. I wanted to be like look at my passport but i just was a robot and rotely responded because it expedites the crossing process. This sort of unprofessional behavior has occurred at least sometimes at every border into Canada I have crossed.
