Yes, you pay for a day pass for parking. But you could probably park down the road and walk in; there is parking by the biking trail by the river if you turn right about a quarter mile before the gate.
In the park they charge $ 5 per vehicle. Apparently, they only charge on Saturdays and Sundays. There are people who park outside the park and enter by walking. The charge is only per vehicle, not per person.
