Is it typical for 6 out if 7 chicks we purchased mid May 2017 to turn out to be roosters? Not getting many eggs that way.

I bought buff brahmas, spotted Sussex, dark Brahma, Easter Egger, Plymouth Rock Plymouth Rock...all were supposed to be layers, not meat chickens at Champion feed store.

What kind of chickens are you buying breed wise, and where are you buying them at...? If you are buying them from TSC then yes if you are buying them from a reputable company that only does chickens then no... But there are certain breeds that are meat pen chickens only that you definitely want the males instead of the females that's my question of what breed of chicken are you buying
