There is plenty of room in the inside downstairs area. I'd make reservations if you're group is larger than 5. This place is pretty dead in the winter and the inside winter vibe is much different than this place's wonderful summer vibe.
Agree with reservations if you have a group. Inside has upstairs and downstairs spaces. Outside is usually open for seating but they don't heat it or serve food and drink out there unless there is an event going on.
There are inside spaces downstairs including a large meeting hall. No idea if they'll open the outdoor space but it's not the best time to be there anyway.
You might want to make a reservation for an inside table just to have a place to retreat from the cold...although the inside seemed small to me... December in NYC isn't usually too cold...low 40-high 30 degrees Fahrenheit
Hi!.... I've yet to go there during December, so I wouldn't know the answer to your question. However, the ambiance there is so great, whether you're inside or out side, that I can visualize your concern. I suggest calling to find out, and if need be, make reservations. Good luck, and enjoy your meet.
