I've been many times. I live up the street. Definitely doesn't match the reviews. Also had 65 health code violations but I thought I would give it another shot. My mistake. By the way, it's not on the beach. Can't even see the beach. It's across the street from condos that are on the beach
In all fairness, it has had new owners for over 3 years now. They closed it down for a month last year and completely remodeled the place. Even the bathrooms are nice. Then when the county shut businesses down for covid, they again spent a lot of money and time making the place even nicer. Last year, they also changed the name from Screwies, who no longer owns it, to The Reef. The current management also owns Ricks Reef in St Pete Beach, the Toasted Monkey in St Pete Beach, and working on one more. They totally revamped The Reef Madeira menu to reflect the beach atmosphere. The food, for the most part is pretty good. It is my favorite breakfast destination on the beach. Seating inside and out, and part of the bar is outside as well. If you are looking for atmosphere other than your typical, enclosed, sit down restaurant, this is your place.
Not sure but I have been there and really good food and unique place. Breakfast, lunch dinner and Bloody Mary's or whatever. Lots of locals and out of towners
