Driving would be way faster. I drive in from Essex county on weekends, and I used to live around the corner from champs. I've actually never really had a problem parking there- though it has taken 5 minutes or so to find a good spot.
Driving sill be significantly faster, but you may have trouble finding street parking depending when you go, so it's sometimes more convenient to take public transit.
