I will be staying near here for 5 nights later this summer, Thursday until Tuesday. Is this a good lot for long-term overnight parking? How does payment work; do I feed the meter (or the app) every morning, or just pay once by credit card?

Parking is free overnight from 10pm to 7 am and free on weekends. You'll need to be in a long term spot that can accommodate all of the hours that you'll be parked outside of those overnight hours if you're not planning on moving the case during the week day. You cannot just add time beyond the max without risking a ticket. You'll need to pay for each individual parking session. Using the app is simplest.
