Depending on the age of your vehicle and when you got it, you may not be due for a new test yet.
You do need it if they have sent it to initially. But if it's not time for you to have it done you can't just do it cause u want to....
They need your name and vehicle
Go to emmisons they will give you info on that also your next date ect
